Working in cold storage

Working in cold storage

Cold storage and freezer roles frequently come with a pay supplement. The work is the same picking and packing, but the environment demands extra care.

Layer up properly

Employers provide insulated clothing for freezer work, wear it. Thin layers under it trap heat better than one thick coat, and keep your hands and ears covered.

Take your breaks

Warm-up breaks are there for a reason in sub-zero areas. Use them, stay hydrated even though you do not feel thirsty, and tell a supervisor if you ever feel numb or dizzy.
